Our inexpensive Portland motel is just an hour’s drive from the Columbia Gorge wineries and the town of Hood River where you will find many of these wonderful establishments in operation year-round. Affectionately known as “A World of Wine in 40 Miles” the region is home to the perfect combination of geology, soil and climate type to produce a long list of grape varietals that are the rare gems needed to produce the renowned wines of the Columbia Gorge region.

Fun Hikes Near Our Inexpensive Portland Motel Posted January 24, 2017
If you have time to take in some iconic Pacific Northwest outdoor beauty while visiting Portland, you might consider going on a hike to one of several pristine landmarks that are not far from our inexpensive Portland motel. There are many beautiful and historic outdoor landmarks to choose from within a half hour’s drive or less, each featuring a great opportunity to get outdoors and enjoy some fresh air any time of the year.
Powell Butte is the closest hiking spot to our motel, and is very popular with the locals. The butte, an extinct cinder volcano, is situated on over 600 acres of meadowland and forest that reaches to the headwaters of Johnson Creek. This site still features remnants of native fish populations including salmon and steelhead. Here you will find a 4.5 mile winding loop that gains little elevation, so it’s good for the whole family.
Latourell Falls is a bit further, but worth the drive. It features breathtaking waterfalls and a short 2.5 mile loop that gains less than 600 feet in elevation making it another great option for families to enjoy. If you venture further into the Columbia River Gorge, you will come upon a plethora of wonderful hiking options, including world-famous Multnomah Falls. There, three beautiful waterfalls dot a trail that gains just over 800 feet in elevation. It’s quite popular with locals and tourists alike, and a great opportunity to take photos. You will find plenty of parking at the trailhead.
There’s no shortage of fun outdoor hikes near our inexpensive Portland motel, even in winter. Whether you are in town for business or pleasure, consider checking out some of the beautiful outdoor scenery that is conveniently located just down the road from our comfy motel. You’ll be glad you did!

The Best Cheap Hotel in the Portland Area Posted September 16, 2016
Often times, the most expensive part of traveling isn’t the cost to get there, it is the cost of staying there as long as you’d like. This is especially true when traveling to popular cities like Portland, OR where hotel prices can climb to as high as $200+ per night for a room – if you’re lucky.
Does it really have to be this way? The short answer: no, you can do much better by choosing to stay at the Portland Nordic Motel.
The Portland Nordic Motel offers hotel quality amenities and services at a fraction of the cost of common luxury hotel brands. If you are looking for a cheap hotel to rest your head without sacrificing cleanliness, or location, you will not find a better value for your money spent on lodging in the Portland area.
Here at the Portland Nordic, we offer exceptional nightly rates. Most important, we’re able to offer these great prices without sacrificing customer comfort and room quality like many other budget ‘deals’, or cheap hotel promotions. For prices far below many well-known hotel chains, you can enjoy our single room with a queen-sized bed, HD cable TV with 150 channels, mini fridge, microwave and much more. Additionally, you can double your room size to include two queen-sized beds, often for less than a stay in a single bed room of another hotel. On top of all of this, you get quality customer care from owners who truly want your stay to be as enjoyable as possible. We promise that your stay with us will change your perspective on how wonderful a cheap hotel experience can truly be.

Portland Nordic Motel Receives 2016 Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence! Posted July 14, 2016
The Portland Nordic Motel was recently awarded Trip Advisor’s 2016 Certificate of Excellence, the third consecutive year we’ve earned the prestigious achievement. From the very beginning, our mission has been to deliver a truly unique and welcoming environment for you and your family to enjoy. We strive every day to give you the best possible experience every time you stay in Portland, and the honor of winning this award only makes us strive harder!
While other establishments can claim they offer the same amenities, quality, and comforts, be wary of those who are unable to back up those claims with an award like Trip Advisor’s Certificate of Excellence. This certification, which only about 10% of businesses receive, stands as testament to our continued commitment in the motel industry to offer the best possible value to our customers.
Of course though, we would not have earned this prestigious award had it not been for our terrific guests whom left their wonderful and passionate reviews. We truly thank you for your continued support of the Portland Nordic Motel which is why this award does not just go to us, but it goes to all of our loyal guests who helped make this motel an excellent place to stay. Thank you for making this a reality for us!
